Hello.
I’m Kevin Potis, an Olympia, Washington designer+writer+ marketer who loves life, music and culture. I seem to have more interests than I do time. I thought this was good way to share some of the things in life I find interesting, fun, beautiful and weird.
Some of my favorite things:
I like to build, hammer and cut metal and wood stuff.
I love old and new cars.
I spend too much money on books and magazines.
Music is my vice.
My deeper passions lie in teaching, coaching, marketing & advertising.
I bought a bike last year that is my favorite purchase, ever.
My wife and I talk discuss architecture, reality TV, marketing strategies and interior design.
I drink and have a “usual” drink.
I cook, a lot.
The list could go on, and on.
I’m also the grateful father of 4 fantastic children–ages 17 to 10. They’re kinda awesome and I’m really proud of them.
Why a blog? I’ve decided to stop spamming all my friends and co-workers with all my internet findings. I love learning, studying and discovering new things and then sending my friends annoying e-mails with my finds. I hope this is a better outlet for my findings.
Why the name Burn and Shine? Two words–The Posies (Seattle’s own). I grew up with their music and think they are one of the most under-rated bands EVER!
This video is OLD but the song holds up beautifully. They still perform it, years later!
